“Centaur” Hippotherapy center starts a series of charity events called “The Butterfly Effect” related to the rehabilitation of handicapped children with the help of horse.

Why “The Butterfly Effect”: This is a metaphor by American mathematician Edward Lorenz that means the following- a small influence on the system now and here may produce large and unpredictable changes sometime and somewhere else in the future. A butterfly flapping its wings in Beijing could cause hurricane in New York a month later.

Related to our charity events the idea can be formulated this way: on the contribution of each of you in our charity events today depends which way and at which speed hippotherapy in Armenia will develop tomorrow! :)

So we begin a series of funny, extraordinary events with the main aim of:

a) drawing attention to the children with mental and physical needs and to hippotherapy in their life in particular;

b) bringing all of you to the world of these amazing doctors, psychologists and healers – HORSES!

EVENT № 1 – BIRTHS OF A FOAL!!!!
A baby horse was born in our stable at 4th of May!!! On Sunday, 6th of June we invite EVERYBODY to celebrate his birthday! The event will take place at the riding club “Zatik” in the Ushi village. In that village “Centaur” practices hippotherapy with handicapped children. The detailed information on our activity is available on our webpage (yet in English and Russian only): www.centaur.am
At the event you will have the opportunity to:
  • communicate with our 13 horses and pony, feed them apples, carrot, sugar and listen to funny and touchy stories about them, as well as play with our 5 dogs;
  • do horseback riding. Children can ride a pony;
  • meet our children and learn about hippotherapy;
  • breathe fresh air from mountains, be with and in Nature, take walk in fields (a unique St. Sargis Church is just 15 minutes walk from our place);
  • listen to a good music, dance and have fun;
  • children can play with colorful balloons in our big tent and paint their impressions with paints and pencils.
ATTENTION!!! 1: Those of you who can play guitar and other transportable instruments, sing and other, feel free to bring your talents with you!!! :)
ATTENTION!!! 2: We have got to choose a name for our new born baby and we would like to ask your help for this. It has to be a boy’s name since our baby is a boy, to start with J (like Russian zh) since her mother’s name is Jasmin and to contain P since her father’s name is Poisk. It can be not only a name but a word (like Poisk) with a good meaning in any language. Please send your suggestions on the email address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We will choose the name we (4 members of Jury ;)) will like and will announce it at the event. The winner will get 5 horse riding lessons FOR FREE!!!
We will serve you Italian drink sangria (fruits in wine) and apple compote. You can take sandwiches with you.
The event will start at 11am and will go on till dark. For those who don’t have their own transport we organize a bus.
The cost of event is 2000 drams per person if you come on your own and 3000 drams if you come by our bus. Children participate in the event and travel in the bus for free (under children we mean children till 10-12 years old). Besides we will have a donation box where you can put as much money as you want and if you want. The entire sum will go on hippotherapy needs. What first we will spend the sum on (depending on its size):
According to statistics around 176 000 people with mental or physical problems live in Armenia. Over .8 500 among them are children below 18. Hippotherapy, i.e. treatment with the help of horse is world widely recognized as one of the most effective rehabilitation methods especially for children with cerebral palsy, scoliosis, other spinal problems, autism. Unfortunately in our center much less children attend for hippotherapy sessions than there is a need. The only reason is financial problems, both ours and of our parents. All of you have possibility to contribute in attendance of more children as well as to help us with care of our horses and accomplishment of our center.
We plan to spend the collected money on this event at either of those:
  • organizing free hippotherapy sessions for some children;
  • gaining special toys and other attributes used in hippotherapy;
  • painting stable in white and do small repairing.
